Growing up, my dad had lots of sayings and expressions – from stuff his grandmother used to say to movie quotes from classic action films. But, one motto stands out above the rest:

Man is not measured by how many times he falls down, but by how many times he gets back up.”

I can’t tell you how many times I heard this growing up. I don’t know where my dad originally got it, but I recently came across another quote that brings it all full circle for us.

“Don’t forget that the saint is not the person who never falls, but rather the one who never fails to get up again, humbly and with a holy stubbornness” St. Josemaria Escriva

As we enter Holy Week soon, let’s keep these quotes in mind. Throughout this Lent and throughout our lives, we stumble and fall, but humbly and stubbornly, let’s keep moving forward, toward the Cross, toward Christ.

Be the Men.
