Jesus said to his disciples: “The Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” MT 13:44-46
As a culture, we certainly don’t have a problem spending money.
How often do we find something that we want (sometimes things that we certainly don’t need), and sacrifice time or money to have it?
We give our time, working harder to save money for a new car, a new house, etc. And don’t get me wrong – these are good things and valuable. But they’re not eternal.
What are we willing to do for something that lasts forever? For eternal life with God? Would we “sell all?”
Are we willing to live every day, every moment for Him? Glorifying Him in all we think, say, and do? Will we at least try?
