Believe it or not, Easter will be here before we know it.
And while, we might be heads down, grinding our way through Lent, let’s take some time to remind ourselves – what are we trying to accomplish with Lent?
Many times, we get caught in the weeds, checking off boxes for our Lenten promises. We sometimes forget – what’s the goal?
Whether it’s an increase in prayer, fasting, or almsgiving, Lent is a time to reorder ourselves. To regain control of ourselves.
And, we hope to not only retake our powers, our desires, our affections, but to then converge them on God.
Lent gives us a chance to assess our strengths and weaknesses, and then re-right our course.
It’s a time to sacrifice and purify. Tidying up to make room for the Lord.
Let us not become comfortable in our sinfulness, in our pride, in our faults. But, bring them into the light, to be slain.
Out with the bad, in with the good.
Be the Men.
