“The devil does his utmost to banish peace from one’s heart, because he knows that God abides in peace and it is in peace that He accomplishes great things.” – Dom Lorenzo Scupoli
I recently dug up one of my old journals and found this quote written on one of the pages. I don’t remember where I originally heard it – but it’s certainly something that I needed to hear again.
The devil tries to attack us in many ways with many sins, but often his goal is this – to disturb our peace.
Think back on the past few days – when have we lost our peace? So often, it happens and we don’t even notice.
A bad mood suddenly comes on – we get distracted, or frustrated, or stressed, or negative, or cynical. This is the devil. And, we’re doing exactly what he wants – letting things outside of our control make us lose our peace.
Don’t let him succeed. Let our joy and hope prevail.

Mark
