So, I carry around a little notebook that I use to jot down ideas for morning emails. Any time an idea comes, I write it down so I have something to work with when it’s time to write.
A few months ago, I wrote this down: Love follows trust.
I don’t know where it came from – maybe a homily, maybe something I read.
This morning, I saw the note I made, and it struck me. It’s true.
It’s hard to love someone who you don’t trust. Or another way to put it, it’s easier to love someone you do trust.
The same holds true when it comes to our relationship with God. And, just maybe, struggles with our faith aren’t because of a lack of love, but a lack of trust.
Trusting God isn’t always easy. Things happen in our lives, and we don’t understand why. Maybe, we fall for the lie that somehow God wants us to be unhappy.
But, we must remember – God wants us to experience eternal happiness in Him. He doesn’t need us, He wants us. He created us. He has a plan for us. He loves us.
When we remember this, the trust starts to come. God has our backs, in ways we can’t even know.
Be the Men,
