One of the hardest things about making prayer a daily habit is motivation. Whether it’s early in the morning, during lunch break, or before bed – we can come up with a dozen reasons or excuses or other things we need to do. And, the motivation simply isn’t there to pray.
Lately, I’ve tried to think of the act of praying like a signup sheet for Adoration. You never want an empty time slot. You never want Christ to be alone in the chapel.
Maybe it’s early in the morning, maybe it’s late at night, but ask when is our time? When is it our duty to get up and spend time with Christ, petitioning for our loved ones?
If your family is still sleeping, be the one who is up early praying on their behalf. If it’s during your lunch, remember that your wife is home with the kids and the house is probably not a silent oasis for prayer.
Find those moments. Spend time with Christ. Remember those who aren’t or can’t pray for themselves.
