Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy this special time with your family and friends.
For weeks now, we’ve seen Nativity scenes on front lawns, Church altars, fireplace mantles, etc. And, now they are finally complete – with the baby Jesus, lying in the manger.
We see this image so much, that we might miss its true beauty and its wonderful insight into God’s plan for us.
Ponder it today – the meaning, the symbols. In my own reflection, I can’t help but see Mary and Joseph, watching over baby Jesus. And as visitors come, the shepherds, the Magi, Mary and Joseph welcome them. They invite them in to see the baby Jesus, to worship Him.
This is what all of the Saints do, but especially Mary and Joseph. They were with Christ then, and they are with Him now – and they invite us to come closer. They intercede, literally “go-between,” for us. They bring us closer to love, honor, and glorify the Christ. It’s a blessing that we have them.
So today, together with Heaven and Earth, let’s celebrate the savior who came for us all. Let’s pray to Mary and Joseph that they may show us the way to Him.
Be the Men,
