I came across the following quote in a book called “The Privilege of Being a Woman.” Why I was reading this book is a story for another day, but take a look.
“The world in which we now live is a world whose outlook is so distorted that we absolutize what is relative (money-making, power, success) and relativize what is absolute (truth, moral values, and God.) Power, riches, fame, success and dominance are idolized; humility, chastity, modesty, self sacrifice, and service are looked down upon as signs of weakness.” Alice von Hildebrand
How spot on is that? And, von Hildebrand wrote that in 2002! Sixteen years later, her words ring true more than ever.
Let’s take some time today to meditate on these words and how they reflect our own lives, our own priorities, the goals that we seek, where we devote our time, etc.
Are we absolutizing the relative and relativizing the absolute?
Be the Men.
