Here’s an interesting little thought experiment: What would you do if you knew you wouldn’t fail? What would you attempt, if you knew that it would work?
Would you ask that girl out? Would you start your own business? Would you take the Gospel to the ends of the earth?
I think this question reveals to us our heart’s desire: both in our everyday lives and in our spiritual lives. It also reveals our fear and what’s holding us back.
Now of course, this is just a thought experiment. We can fail. But, the real question is if the reward of success worth the risk?
In matters of faith (what else matters), it is. Because it’s not just any reward, but an infinite, eternal reward that we can’t even possibly imagine. And it waits for us on the other end of the promise that if we give ourselves to God, placing our faith in Him, listening to His word, following Him, we can’t lose.
“I entrust this charge to you, my child, in accordance with the prophetic words once spoken about you. Through them may you fight a good fight.” 1 Timothy 1:18
